New scene, aka, 'real Japan'.

This afternoon we arrived at our new home. It sure is small, that's when we realised that we had arrived in 'real Japan'.
Well, that and the fact that we are now totally surrounded by people who don't speak our language.
We're now living in a smallish city called Ōtawara and Marika will soon be teaching the Japanese children. On first glance this place is nothing out of the ordinary. It has a Mister Donut, a Uniqlo, a Daiso and all the regular コンビニ (conbinis) and chain restaurants.
Party central it ain't.
Tonight we cooked our first meal in our new home and it was suitably Japanese. We had cold soba noodles with soy and wasabi as well as some miso soup. Japanese beer too, of course.

Tomorrow Marika is off to Tokyo for three days for training, I will be looking for work.
