Why is it that...
...winter hates us so much that everywhere we go has a crap season and everywhere we're not, or we have just been has a fantastic season? Are we like on some sort of opposites with Missy good winter and we're just hanging out with Mr bad winter?
Ok so my point is, we went to Canada, it was a bad season with not much snow, we went home to Oz, it was a terrible season, we came to Japan it didn't snow like it did last year and what happens in Canada?!? A bumper season! Then what's happening now in Oz? A bumper season... something is starting to tell me that our love affair with the snow was just not meant to be...
Ok, sorry, moving right along so you know we quit our jobs here, way too much bullshit and I have a new job and we're moving in 2 and a bit weeks. The new job is in Otwara, Tochigi, about an hour south of here, so closer to Tokyo. Included in the deal is an apartment, a pay rise, transport allowance and a cut in hours. Yay! So if everything goes well, I'll be doing that for the next few months. Khan is hoping to get a job in the area as well but if he can't, we may have to re-think and do something else...
We do have a back up plan thanks to Michelle...I remembered she did WWOOFing (Willing Workers On Organic Farms) somewhere in Europe and found out it actually existed here as well. So if nothing goes to plan, we'll pack our stuff up and do that for a bit... It may be the cheapest way to travel around Japan and I'm pretty keen on giving it a go when we finish up and are ready to travel around a bit as you can do stints for a few days. Not all of it is farming either, there's one that I spotted that was working with a hot air ballooning company...woy woy...So the outlook is good...
Probably the main thing I'm looking forward to out of this is having our own place again...not having to share the shower, toilet, laundry and kitchen with about 12 others...If it's a mess it's your fault and yes, it will get cleaned up...and not having to put up signs for the dirty pigs...anyways, I digress...
Another thing is getting out into real Japan, I'm trying to get a little more Japanese. I'm very proud of Khan, he can now ask for a table for 2, non smoking and also ask the waiter if they have any vegetarian dishes...He's really good at remembering it whereas with me it seems to go in one ear and out the other... I remember random things like kokubin (airmail), honto (really) and do itashimashte (you're welcome) but anyways, people tell me my pronunciation is good, but i think they're just being polite...
Anyways, I've rabbitted on for long enough. We have the day off tomorrow so i think we're going to save some cashola and stay at home, go riding bikes if it's fine enough. We were going to go to Aizu Wakamatsu, place of the White Tiger samurai but I think we're going to wait and comeback in a month or so when we have some more cash to burn as JHIP might be burning us on our last pay cheque...
More on that later, I plan to burn them in a big way both here and a few other places, just so people don't fall into the same trap we did. Just when I did google searches on them, nothing came up...I hope to make it to the top of the list...Yes, yes, I am a bitter woman but blah...you should see the letter I wrote to British Hills management...probably won't make a difference but at least i've made an attempt to make things better for others coming here...
