Bring on the snow.
After being in Canada for a few months now it seems we'll soon be hitting the slopes and testing out our new boards. We arrived here in Fernie a few days ago and joined the hordes of ski-bums looking for somewhere to live. Apparently last year there was a surplus of housing but no jobs, this year it's quite the opposite. As we had employment sorted out before we arrived, well, let's just say the past few days have been kinda stressful. Hopefully this afternoon we will be moving into another basement suite, this one however is not too far off being twice the price we were paying in Vancouver. It's not unheard of for 3 bedroom places to be charging over $2500 per month, coupled with very strict policies on number of people per property and a flat no parties/ noise/ fun rule. It seems that Fernie has sussed out these itinerant workers and their crazy ways.
Our new car seems to be doing quite well (this better not jinx anything!), dealing with the cold. We'll have to bite the bullet pretty soon and purchase some winter tires, sliding all over the road is kinda of a novelty that I imagine will wear thin pretty quickly.
In other news Marika and I have a new Prime Minister, we are cautiously excited.
Hope everyone back home is well and enjoying the warm weather, we'll be thinking of you when it's 20 below. Actually that's a total lie, we'll be thinking of all that soft powder and the sheer amount of snow!
Take care y'all!
